OBREDIMET
Observation
What do I want to achieve with weaving the Web.
Create a small community of people, a networking web of people who can help and support each other in many different areas of life.
Create a safe nurturing space where people can learn about and try out new skills presented in interesting ways while meeting other like-minded people.
Create a network of people with diverse interests and skills.
Create a hub of experienced people who will share their expertise and knowledge with others while advertising their particular therapy or skill.
Showcase one skill or therapy as a taster session for each gathering to share knowledge with the group.
Incorporate music, crafts and art to explore different ways to communicate, be creative and come together.
Include and explore different spiritual and cultural ideas.
Gradually introduce Eco issues. Food coops, exercise and health.
Empower people through encouraging them to try new skills and take responsibility for themselves.

Decide initially to hold the Gathering once a month.
A friday night is a good night for most people.
Source a venue, I already get good rates at the local village hall, it is easily acessable and most people know where it is,
there is also enough parking, although I will encourage lift shares as much as possible.
I decided to try out one group meeting as a taster to see how it will go.

IMPLEMENT
The hall was hired for October 2011
The email hub was sent out a month before to announce the start date and request people to come forward to offer therapy and skill taster sesions at the Gatherings.
Reminders were then sent out at one and two week intervals after that.
The hall was set up with chairs placed in a circle to encourage a friendly relaxed atmosphere along with a lit candle in the middle and lowered lighting.
A questionaire was passed around during the evening to again request what people would like to learn about in futiure taster sessions, also to collect email addresses of people interested in more events connected to Weaving The web.
A therapist volunteered for the first session with a Shamanic Sound Journey to wards the end of the evening.

EVULATE
Over all the evening went well a group of 40+ people turned up for the first Gathering, everyone was included through out the evening and no one was isolated,
this helped to make people feel that they were in a safe enviroment.
Everyone joined in the introduction and shared a bit about themselves and their skill with the group.
Teabreak was a popular break which included a lot of networking and social support.
Once the musical insturments had been passed round the jaming session worked well as a universal language that bonded people together.
A Sound Journey was performed as a taster session which then led in to a healing circle .

FEEDBACK
The feedback from the group was encouraging, people felt they were:
listented to and heard an important part of making people feel needed and supported.
They were keen to learn about new skills, try them out and stretch their boundries.
The guest therapist promoting the taster session was able to advertise her particular skill get her self known and share her knowledge with the group.
The networking was highlighted as a productive part of the Gathering, talking to other like minded people but also people from different and diverse back grounds
opened up new ideas.
Being creative and opening up to try jamming and art sessions there is no right or wrong way to perform these sessions putting everyone on the same level.
MAINTAIN
The format of the evening worked well so the basic format will remain the same.
A short intro to the evening what the taster session is about.
Events that are going on in the next month the group are invited to say a short bit about the event.
The taster session from the therapist.
Teabreak networking and art session.
Jamming sessions.
Healing circle.
The hub of skills is growing all the time providing a large database of information to be sourced when required.
The venue is booked provisional for the third Friday of each month and an email reminder sent round a week or so before the Gathering.
The Gatherings will be utilised to include different sectors each time. see Weaving the Web website
OBSERVE AND INTERACT
I have closely monitored the gatherings and noted the community’s needs and requirements.
By using questionnaires and asking for feedback I have been able to deliver what was requested in the form of taster sesions.
I am aware that dull boring long talks are not popular so taster sessions are kept to half an hour and other activities are brought in through
out the gatherings to keep interest high.
The groups are encouraged to try out different skills at the gatherings on a regular basis.
Keeping it simple one of my questionnaires was simply laid out with instructions but many people did not read it properly, so I now keep it
very simple.
By creating many different sectors within weaving the web I have not relied on one interest or
skill, there are a variety of different interests to keep the community fresh and energised.
We also have a large network of skills and therapist that can be called on at any given
time, contingency plans need to be in place if a speaker pulls out for any reason and we need a back up.
This has only happened once so far.
