This project is not just about changes in my working life but also about major changes in the way I source my every day needs.
It’s about thinking outside the box to discover alternatives to using money. It is empowering for people to use the skills they already have, take control of their lives and start to create a community by pulling together.
Before I started this project I had a full time job and a regular income, but I was made redundant at the end of June 2012.
I was already looking to make big changes as my work/ life was out of balance, this was the next step which I was going to take a bit more slowly by setting up a part time business to run along side my regular job, but it all happened a bit quicker than anticipated.
As with the proceeding projects, I trial the information I have learned on myself first to identify any potential problems and find solutions.
The project is then trailed on Weaving the Web (the Community group) which is the next step to building a community.
This way I am constantly not only reviewing myself but gaining feedback from the group, checking what works and what doesn’t.
I am slowly building up a format from the projects which I will uses as a template for the community I will be putting together in the future.
In order to find another career path I need to revisit the skills I have achieved over the past year and utilise these skills in my work life.
This seemed like a natural point to take stock and reassess how far I have come, to look at the achievements and skills attained so far and to identify any skill gaps.
Identify the resources, skills, places and people who can assist me to achieve my goal of setting up and running a successful business.
This ties in nicely with the interim review which is due after Project 5. So in the spirit of stacking of functions I tied the two together.
Like most of my projects this is an on going project that doesn't stop once the project has been written up. Once the idea is seeded it has a life of it's own and it continues to grow and flourish as long as it receives nutrients, time being one of them, throwing up some many balls in the air organising them and then pulling in all the projects to work together in a unified way is a huge challenge.
This project was started in 2011 and although I hadn't put pen to paper I knew I wanted to make huge changes, a year later I'm still watching them unfold.
